HandsOn Genesee Named Volunteer Center of the Year!

Great news! HandsOn Genesee, the volunteer center for Flint & Genesee County, was named 2014 Volunteer Center of the Year by the Volunteer Centers of Michigan!

Specifically, HandsOn Genesee was cited for its work with the College Town Collaborative. The Collaborative includes Baker College of Flint, Davenport University, Kettering University, Mott Community College, Northwood University, and the University of Michigan-Flint. HandsOn Genesee is a member of the group and provides support to its efforts.

Specifically, the College Town Collaborative hosts volunteer events on National Days of Service like Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and Make a Difference Day.

Our work with the Genesee/Shiawassee Michigan Works! program known as PATH was also one of the reasons HandsOn Genesee was named Volunteer Center of the Year. People in PATH are receiving cash assistance from the state and engage with us to increase their job skills through volunteering. This year we launched a new Community Service for Success program for PATH and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

HandsOn Genesee is grateful to all who participate in our work and especially to the Volunteer Centers of Michigan and the Michigan Nonprofit Association for this honor.
